Thư gửi các huynh đoàn trong thời dịch Covid 19

Anh chị em các Huynh đoàn thân mến,
Với tư cách ban điều hành quốc tế, chúng tôi muốn chia sẻ với quý anh chị một vài suy tư của chúng tôi. Chúng ta đang cùng nhau sống cái thực tại với những thách đố to lớn và hướng đôi mắt chúng ta vào các ân huệ của Thiên Chúa thành tín.
- Chia sẻ với cộng đồng nhân loại
Tất cả chúng ta đang cố gắng đương đầu với các hậu quả của nạn dịch Covid 19. Chúng ta cố gắng giữ gìn sức khỏe của mình cũng như của kẻ khác. Chúng ta sợ hãi và lo lắng bởi vì chúng ta không bao giờ biết được ở đâu, khi nào, và do ai mà chúng ta bị nhiễm. Chúng ta cảm thấy bất an vì ảnh hưởng kinh khủng đè nặng trên nền kinh tế và các hậu quả chúng. Chúng ta đau buồn khi nghe nói những đau đớn mà những bệnh nhân phải chịu đựng trong cô đơn, của những kẻ đem người thân đi chôn không một lời tiễn biệt, mất công ăn việc làm, đau khổ về mặt tinh thần. Chúng ta đau lòng vì mất bạn và mất những công việc thường ngày, những tiếp xúc với bạn bè, những người thân và những người chúng ta đang phục vụ. Chúng ta đói khát Thánh lễ và hiệp lễ. Chúng ta đang bị hạ thấp.
- Chia sẻ một linh đạo chung
Chúng ta đã được ơn tin, cây mến. Chúng ta đã gặp được Chúa Giêsu trong thân phận hữu hạn tại Nadarét. Chúng ta đã nhận được một vài chỉ dẫn về cách sống trong sa mạc. Chúng ta có khả năng mở rộng tâm hồn để có thể vươn tới những vùng ngoại biên, trở nên anh chị em của mọi người. Chúng ta đang tìm cách “ đồng hành trong hy vọng để từ bỏ, để tố giác, để loan báo”. Chúng ta đã thuộc kinh phó thác. Chúng ta hãy là người biết ơn.
- Là ngôn sứ của một tương lai không thuộc về chúng ta (1)
Chớ gì thời kỳ khó khăn này trở thành một cơ hội thuận lợi để chúng ta đắm mình sâu hơn vào trong dòng nước trong mát của đức tin và linh đạo của chúng ta. Chớ gì chúng ta đừng để cho những gì đang xảy ra đè bẹp nhưng hãy vững niềm hy vọng trong hiện tại. Như Anh Charles đã viết cho một thầy trong dòng Trappe của anh như sau :
“ Để nhận lãnh được ơn Chúa… bạn phải vào trong sa mạc và ở lại đó một thời gian. Ở đó, tâm hồn bạn sẽ trở nên trống rỗng và tất cả những gì không thuộc về Thiên Chúa sẽ bị thiêu hủy đi. Tại đó, căn nhà linh hồn chúng ta sẽ được thanh tẩy hoàn toàn để trở thành căn phòng chỉ dành cho một mình Thiên Chúa cư ngụ… Chúng ta cần sự thinh lặng này, sự vắng bóng mọi tạo vật này để Thiên Chúa có thể dựng xây khu ẩn cư của Ngài trong chúng ta.”(2)
Chớ gì, với tình yêu và hoàn toàn xác tín, chúng ta cùng với anh Charles đào sâu hơn để tìm kiếm:
- Không khư khư giữ lại những khuôn mẫu và những lối sống xưa trước.
- Không bảo vệ cái nguyên trạng(status quo)
- Không ở lại trong những tiện nghi giả tạo
Nhưng buông mình để Thiên Chúa gây ngạc nhiên và giúp khám phá ra đâu là cách Thiên Chúa ở với chúng ta – khám phá ra làm thế nào để yêu Chúa Giêsu, bắt chước Người, và cùng với Người phục vụ tha nhân – Để phó mình cho Chúa Cha với lòng tín thác trọn vẹn.

Lạy Cha, con phó mình con cho Cha / Xin hãy làm nơi con mọi sự đẹp ý Cha / Cha làm chi mặc lòng / Con cũng cảm ơn Cha.
Con sẵn sàng luôn luôn / Con nhận lãnh tất cả / miễn ý Cha được làm trọn trong con / trong tất cả loài Cha tạo dựng / Con chẳng ước muốn chi khác nữa.
Lạy Cha là Chúa Trời con / con phó thác linh hồn con trong tay Cha / con dâng hồn con cho Cha.
Lạy Cha, với tất cả tình yêu của lòng con / vì con mến Cha / và vì mến Cha / nên con thấy cần phải hiến thân con / phó trót mình con trong tay Cha / không do dự đắn đo / song vô cùng tin cậy / vì Cha là Cha của con. Amen

Letter to the fraternities in time of Covid-19
25 March 2020 - Feast of the Annunciation
Beloved members of the fraternity
As International team we would like to share a few thoughts with you. Together we live our present reality with its grave challenges and open our eyes for the graces of our faithful God.
I. We share a common humanity
We are all trying to come to terms with the effects of Covid-19 (Coronavirus). We try to take care of our health and that of others. We experience fear and anxiety as we never know where, when, from whom it can reach us. We experience insecurity due to the enormous impact on the economy and the side effects. We experience sadness when we hear of the suffering of those who have to bear the illness alone, be buried without a proper farewell, loose their job, suffer on the level of mental health. We grieve lost friends and miss our usual routines, the contact with friends, loved ones and those we minister to. We hunger for the Eucharist and for communion. We are humbled.
II. We share a common spirituality
We have been gifted with faith, hope and charity. We have encountered Jesus in the limits of Nazareth. We received some tips on how to navigate the desert. We had a fair degree of stretching so that our hearts could expand, reach out to the periphery, become universal brothers and sisters. We were seeking to “Walk together in hope: renouncing, denouncing, announcing”. We have been taught to prayer of abandonment. We are grateful.
III. We are prophets of a future not our own1
May this challenging time be an opportunity to dig deeper into fresh waters of our faith and spirituality. May we not be too overwhelmed by what is happening and embrace the present with hope. As Brother Charles wrote to one of his Trappist brothers: .
“To receive the grace of God ... you must go to a desert place and stay a while. There you can be emptied and unburdened of everything that does not pertain to God. There the house of our soul is swept clean to make room for God alone to dwell ... We need this silence, this absence of every creature, so that God can build his hermitage within us”2.
May we dig deeper with Brother Charles to search with love and total determination
- Not to keep previous patterns and lifestyles - Not to protect the status quo - Not to dwell in superficial comfort
But to let ourselves be surprised by God and - discover in what way God is with us today - discover how to love Jesus, imitate Him and, with Him, reach out to others - To abandon ourselves with complete trust in the Father.

Lettre aux Fraternites en ce temps d’epidemie du covid 19
(25 mars 2020 Fête de l’Annociation)
Membres bien-aimés de la fraternité,
En tant qu'équipe internationale, nous aimerions partager quelques réflexions avec vous. Ensemble, nous vivons notre réalité actuelle avec ses graves défis et ouvrons les yeux sur les grâces de notre Dieu fidèle.
I. Nous partageons une humanité commune. Nous essayons tous d'accepter les conséquences de l’épidémie du Covid-19 (Coronavirus). Nous essayons de prendre soin de notre santé et de celle des autres. Nous éprouvons de la peur et de l'anxiété car nous ne savons jamais ni où, ni quand, ni par qui nous pouvons être atteints. Nous ressentons de l'insécurité en raison de l'énorme impact qui pèse sur l'économie et ses conséquences.
Nous ressentons de la tristesse lorsque nous entendons parler de la souffrance de ceux qui doivent supporter seuls la maladie, ceux qui doivent enterrer un proche sans un adieu approprié, perdre leur emploi, souffrir au niveau de la santé mentale. Nous pleurons aussi les amis perdus, nos habitudes quotidiennes nous manquent, ainsi que le contact avec les amis, les proches et tous ceux que nous servons. Nous avons faim d'Eucharistie et de communion. Nous sommes humiliés.
II. Nous partageons une spiritualité commune. Nous avons reçu le don de la foi, de l’espérance et de la charité. Nous avons rencontré Jésus dans les limites de notre Nazareth. Nous avons reçu quelques conseils sur la façon de naviguer (des repères pour marcher) dans le désert.
Nous avons reçu la capacité d’élargir nos cœurs, afin qu’ils puissent se dilater jusqu’à atteindre les périphéries, pour devenir des frères et sœurs universels. Nous avons cherché à «marcher ensemble dans l'espérance: en renonçant, en dénonçant et en annonçant».
Nous avons appris la prière d'abandon. Nous sommes reconnaissants.
III. Nous sommes les prophètes d'un avenir qui n'est pas le nôtre.1 Que cette période difficile soit l'occasion de creuser plus profondément dans les eaux douces de notre foi et de notre spiritualité. Puissions-nous ne pas être trop submergés par ce qui se passe et embrasser le présent avec espoir. Comme frère Charles l'a écrit à l'un de ses frères trappistes:
« Il faut passer par le désert et y séjourner pour recevoir la grâce de Dieu ; c’est là qu’on se vide, qu’on chasse de soi tout ce qui n’est pas Dieu et qu’on vide complètement cette petite maison de notre âme pour laisser toute la place à Dieu seul ».2
Puissions-nous creuser plus profondément avec frère Charles pour chercher avec amour et détermination totale à : - ne pas conserver les modèles et modes de vie précédents, - ne pas protéger le statu quo, - ne pas habiter dans un confort superficiel, mais se laisser surprendre par Dieu et - découvrir de quelle manière Dieu est avec nous aujourd'hui, - découvrir comment aimer Jésus, l'imiter et, avec lui, tendre la main aux autres, - s'abandonner en toute confiance au Père.
